The Resurrection

28Early on Sunday morningc, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb.G1161G3796G4521G2020G1519G3391G4521G2064G3137G3094G2532G243G3137G2334G5028 2Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it.G2532G2400G1096G3173G4578G1063G32G2962G2597G1537G3772G4334G617G3037G575G2374G2532G2521G1883G846 3His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow.G1161G846G2397G2258G5613G796G2532G846G1742G3022G5616G5510 4The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.G1161G575G5401G846G5083G4579G2532G1096G5616G3498 5Then the angel spoke to the women. "Don't be afraid!" he said. "I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.G1161G32G611G2036G1135G5399G3361G5210G1063G1492G3754G2212G2424G3588G4717 6He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.G2076G3756G5602G1063G1453G2531G2036G1205G1492G5117G3699G2962G2749 7And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you."G2532G4198G5035G2036G846G3101G3754G1453G575G3498G2532G2400G4254G5209G1519G1056G1563G3700G846G2400G2036G5213 8The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel's message.G2532G1831G5035G575G3419G3326G5401G2532G3173G5479G5143G518G846G3101G518 9And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him.G1161G5613G4198G518G846G3101G2532G2400G2424G528G846G3004G5463G1161G4334G2902G846G4228G2532G4352G846 10Then Jesus said to them, "Don't be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there."G5119G3004G2424G846G5399G3361G5399G565G518G3450G80G2443G5217G1519G1056G2546G3700G3165

The Report of the Guard

11As the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and told the leading priests what had happened.G1161G846G4198G2400G5100G2892G2064G1519G4172G518G749G537G1096 12A meeting with the elders was called, and they decided to give the soldiers a large bribe.G2532G4863G3326G4245G5037G2983G4824G1325G2425G694G4757 13They told the soldiers, "You must say, 'Jesus' disciples came during the night while we were sleeping, and they stole his body.'G3004G2036G3754G846G3101G2064G3571G2813G846G2257G2837 14If the governor hears about it, we'll stand up for you so you won't get in trouble."G2532G1437G5124G191G1909G2232G191G2249G3982G846G2532G275G4160G5209 15So the guards accepted the bribe and said what they were told to say. Their story spread widely among the Jews, and they still tell it today.G1161G2983G694G4160G5613G1321G2532G3778G3056G1310G3844G2453G3360G4594

The Great Commission

16Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.G1161G1733G3101G4198G1519G1056G1519G3735G3757G2424G5021G846 17When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!G2532G1492G846G4352G846G1161G1365 18Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.G2532G2424G4334G2980G846G3004G3956G1849G1325G3427G1722G3772G2532G1909G1093 19Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nationsc, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.G4198G3767G3100G3956G1484G907G846G1519G3686G3962G2532G5207G2532G40G4151 20Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."G1321G846G5083G3956G3745G1781G5213G2532G2400G1473G1510G3326G5216G3956G2250G2193G4930G165G281

The Resurrection

16Saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus' body.G2532G1230G4521G1230G3137G3094G2532G3137G3588G2385G2532G4539G59G759G2443G2064G218G846 2Very early on Sunday morningc, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb.G2532G3029G4404G3391G4521G2064G1909G3419G393G2246 3On the way they were asking each other, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?"G2532G3004G4314G1438G5101G617G2254G617G3037G1537G2374G3419 4But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside.G2532G308G2334G3754G3037G617G1063G2258G4970G3173 5When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked,G2532G1525G1519G3419G1492G3495G2521G1722G1188G4016G3022G4749G2532G1568 6but the angel said, "Don't be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazarethc, who was crucified. He isn't here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body.G1161G3004G846G1568G3361G1568G2212G2424G3479G3588G4717G1453G2076G3756G5602G2396G5117G3699G5087G846 7Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died."G235G5217G2036G846G3101G2532G4074G3754G4254G5209G1519G1056G1563G3700G846G2531G2036G5213 8The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, and they said nothing to anyone because they were too frightenedc. [Shorter Ending of Mark] Then they briefly reported all this to Peter and his companions. Afterward Jesus himself sent them out from east to west with the sacred and unfailing message of salvation that gives eternal life. Amen.G2532G1831G5035G5343G575G3419G1161G846G2192G5156G2532G1611G2532G2036G3762G3762G1063G5399 9[Longer Ending of Mark] After Jesus rose from the dead early on Sunday morning, the first person who saw him was Mary Magdalene, the woman from whom he had cast out seven demons.G1161G450G4404G4413G4521G5316G4412G3137G3094G575G3739G1544G2033G1140 10She went to the disciples, who were grieving and weeping, and told them what had happened.G1565G4198G518G1096G3326G846G3996G2532G2799 11But when she told them that Jesus was alive and she had seen him, they didn't believe her.G2548G191G3754G2198G2532G2300G5259G846G569 12Afterward he appeared in a different form to two of his followers who were walking from Jerusalem into the country.G1161G3326G5023G5319G1722G2087G3444G1417G1537G846G4043G4198G1519G68 13They rushed back to tell the others, but no one believed them.G2548G565G518G3062G3761G4100G1565 14Still later he appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating together. He rebuked them for their stubborn unbelief because they refused to believe those who had seen him after he had been raised from the deadc.G5305G5319G1733G846G345G2532G3679G846G570G2532G4641G3754G4100G3756G2300G846G1453 15And then he told them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.G2532G2036G846G4198G1519G537G2889G2784G2098G3956G2937 16Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.G4100G2532G907G4982G1161G569G2632 17These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languagesc.G1161G5023G4592G3877G4100G1722G3450G3686G1544G1140G2980G2537G1100 18They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won't hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed."G142G3789G2579G4095G5100G2286G5100G3364G984G846G2007G5495G1909G732G2532G2192G2573 19When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God's right hand.G3303G3767G3326G2962G2980G846G353G1519G3772G2532G2523G1537G1188G2316 20And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.G1161G1565G1831G2784G3837G2962G4903G2532G950G3056G1223G4592G1872G281
